Another equally important question to consider is what are the taxes? Property taxes have a major impact on the monthly mortgage payment; did you know a $250,000 home with taxes of $6,000/year would be roughly the same monthly payment as a $300,000 house with taxes of $3,600/year?
As a service to our clients, below are the Chester County Tax Rates for 2015. Taxes are broken down three ways; by county (the same for all, as the Chester County millage rate is 4.1630), by township and by school district. Below are some lists to consider when making a purchase, as well as the entire document sorted by overall least to most expensive places to live.
*Please note: East Marlborough Township falls within both the Unionville Chadds Ford and Kennett Consolidated School Districts. The majority of the township is in Unionville Chadds Ford School District, though both rankings are denoted in the below chart.
